Anesthesia Options

Our goal at Oral & Facial Surgery Institute is to deliver safe and comfortable oral surgery procedures. Receiving any sort of surgery can trigger feelings of anxiety, which is not a comfortable feeling. To combat these feelings and create the most comfortable experience possible, we offer a variety of anesthesia options for our patients. The type of anesthesia used will be determined through a conversation between you and your doctor. It will be chosen based on the complexity of your procedure as well as your level of anxiety.

Dr. Davis is a highly qualified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who is qualified to safely administer anesthesia to patients. To learn more, schedule a consultation by contacting our office in St. George, UT.

Types of Anesthesia

We offer several forms of anesthesia to ensure your comfort.

Local Anesthesia

Local anesthesia utilizes numbing medication that is applied directly to the surgical site to ensure you have no pain but can remain conscious.

Nitrous Oxide

Laughing gas—nitrous oxide–is administered through a mask to provide pain relief and create a state of tranquility while remaining conscious.

Intravenous (IV) Sedation

Twilight sedation, or IV sedation, induces a deeper level of sedation through an intravenous line. Patients are semi-conscious and have no pain. Often, patients wake up with no memory of the procedure.

General Anesthesia

For complex or extensive procedures, doctors administer general anesthesia to completely sedate a patient.
